Company Profile

In 1877, when mineral oils were in their infancy, J C Goodall founded his Company. In 1882, TWG Bates joined him and the firm became Goodall, Bates & Co, with oil works and offices in Newcastle upon Tyne, and grease works located in nearby Gateshead. In 1902, Mr Goodall retired and Mr Bates brought his two sons, Herbert and Harry, into the firm.

In 1906, the business was converted to a Limited Company and continued to grow steadily. In 1931, both Mr Goodall and Mr Bates senior having died, the Company incorporated the firm C & J Todd, Burnside Oil Works, Newcastle upon Tyne, and thus became Goodall, Bates & Todd Limited, the name by which it is still known.

Shortly after this amalgamation, the Company closed all their establishments in Newcastle and concentrated on their premises in Albany Road, Gateshead, where they have built new offices and installed modern plant facilities for blending and processing their extensive range of products.
